What would a Cinco de Mayo celebration be without margaritas?

The fifth of May marks an annual celebration of a Mexican military victory which occurred on this day way back in 1862. The holiday has become a way for the culture to celebrate and share their heritage with friends and family from all over!

Here is an amazing Receptra CBD margarita recipe that’s sure to hit the spot!  

Receptra CBD Margarita Ingredients:

  • 1 oz Grand Marnier® or cognac of your choice
  • 1 oz añejo tequila
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • ½ oz agave nectar
  • 1 serving of Receptra Naturals CBD extract
  • Salt for the rim
  • Lime wedge

The Tequila Daisy

One of the reasons the margarita is such a great option for this cultural celebration is that its focal ingredient (tequila) can only be made in Mexico. In 1974 the Mexican government declared it as intellectual property. It is illegal for other countries to produce or sell their own “tequila.” There is even a Tequila Regulatory Council that exists to ensure quality and promote the culture surrounding the spirit.

The margarita itself came to be shortly after the end of American alcohol prohibition. It was originally called the tequila daisy and it is no surprise that the Spanish word for “daisy” is “margarita.” You can use that little fact to impress people at your next gathering (you’re welcome).

CBD Margarita Instructions:

Salt the rim of the glass by dipping the wetted rim into a thin layer of salt spread on a flat surface. Add all liquid ingredients to a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into the salt-rimmed glass filled with ice. Add a lime wedge to the corner of the glass and serve!
