Meditation is the practice of training your mind to focus and redirect your thoughts. Many people have turned to mediation as a way to reduce stress, overthinking and develop a stronger ability to focus. Mediation is also used to increase awareness of yourself and your surroundings, inspire positive mood and outlook on life, healthy sleeping patterns, amongst other things.

Calm touts the honor of being the #1 mediation app. They offer a week free, but along with mediation also have several otters features including guided stretches, nature sounds, and soothing music.

Jay Shetty: No Subscription Required

Jay Shetty is an award-winning host, content creator and former monk whose focus is viral wisdom. He is hosting free, live guided mediation sessions on his Facebook and Instagram for 20 days, starting March 20th, but the videos also recorded so you can catch up anytime.

Insight Timer: Over 30,000 Free Options

Insight Timmer has over 30,000 free mediation sessions available. It is not necessary to create an account to access these if you are using a computer, though there is an app available as well.

Smiling Mind: Something for the Kids too

Smiling Mind may be the app of choice if you have children at home because they also have mediation options for your little ones to help them cope with some of the same things you are experiencing.

Oprah Winfrey and Deepak Chopra: Timely Messages

Oprah Winfrey and Deepak Chopra have been collaborating on 21-day mediation experiences since 2012 and every so often they offer a free one. They are well done and worth the listen. There is no obligation to submit a credit card and you will be on the list to here of future free mediations.

No Experience Necessary

Mediation is not an exact science and it may not be easy the first time. Don’t get discouraged. Also, remember that your first mediation does not need to be an hour long. Shoot for 10 minutes and see how you do. If you only make it five, that’s ok too. Go at a pace that is comfortable for you.
